My first computer

My family has always been really late to update with technology, so when we got our first computer everyone had already had them for a while. I remember they were huge! The computer was a Gateway. It was light grey. Compared to now, it was massive. I had a floppy disk that I used to store all of my stuff on. We had Microsoft Word I remember because I used to write notes on there and save it to my floppy disk before I had a flash drive.
We used dial-up internet, so it took forever to do anything. I would only play internet games, though. When my mom would use the internet, I could not call home because it used our land line. The noise it made hurt my ears. When I was in school, the teachers would ask if we had a computer at our house because not everyone had one at home like now.
They took up so much room on a desk, unlike the flat screen computers we all have today. They were so slow! Even just turning them off and on took forever. I'm glad for the progress we've made. No one would put up with that now a days.
From the picture above you can see how different this computer is from the ones we use today! Its crazy to see how far we have come in our advancements in technology. Look at how big this computer. Just looking at this makes me think of how long I would have to wait for my childhood computer to turn on. This thing seems ancient, but we actually used them like 12 years ago.

  1. Gateways were classics. Can you find any pictures or videos of the machine to share with us too?
